Melinda Kenneway, Director
Melinda has worked in scholarly communications since 1992, the majority of that time spent with Oxford University Press where she latterly held the post of Marketing Director for the Journals Division.
Melinda has huge experience of working closely with small publishers and societies to help them meet their commercial and social goals. She also has the experience of working as part of a large publishing organization to create new business opportunities, reduce costs, and take advantage of new technologies to build close relationships with customers.
With TBI, Melinda has broadened her experience through working with many other kinds of organization across the scholarly communications sector including libraries and content aggregators.
Melinda is an active member of the publishing community, speaking at industry events on marketing strategy and providing training for ALPSP (Association of Learned and Society Publishers).
Biggest passion: writing fiction when work allows!
Joseph Kenneway, Director
Joseph is a graduate in Social Science who has nearly 20 years’ experience in marketing communications, his key area of expertise being in creative communications, encompassing public relations, campaign development, brand and graphic design.
Joseph's early career was in publishing where he worked for Blackwell Science and others. From here he expanded his experience, working as Creative Director for a communications agency on the outskirts of London for clients that included international blue-chip companies such as Ford and BP.
Since establishing TBI in 1997 he has conducted marketing and design campaign work for organizations across the publishing, educational, public service, and charitable sectors.
Biggest passion: Joseph is an amateur thespian in his spare time, and numbers Macbeth and Caliban among his roles. Look out therefore for the occasional quirky hairstyle or impending facial growth.
Jo Cross, Senior Marketing Manager
Jo has a strong background in marketing communications. She started her career working for think-tank, The Henley Centre working with a number of FTSE 100 clients to help them become more consumer focused. She then went on to work across a number of sectors and has specific expertise in Public Services, ICT, FMCG and Education where she has held a number of senior marketing positions. Jo brings this broader experience to the world of scholarly communications, bringing fresh insights and applying interactive marketing and community-building tactics to our work. As well as an honours degree in Spanish and Latin American Studies, Jo also holds a full Certificate in Marketing.
Biggest passion: Providing our clients with innovative campaigns that can impact their bottom line… and jammy dodger biscuits!
Su Dore, Designer
Su holds an honours degree in Fine Art from Manchester Polytechnic and an ICM Diploma in Media Studies and Media management. She has worked in design since graduating. Following periods in a general design studio and subsequently as an in-house designer, Su joined TBI in 2003 and works across the full range of client briefs. She particularly enjoys the challenge of blending aesthetics with the practical requirements of delivering effective marketing messages.
Biggest passion: belly dancing!
Suzanna Marsh, Marketing Executive
Suzanna’s publishing career includes working at Taylor & Francis and the British Computer Society (BCS), across a range of subject disciplines including politics, military studies and business. Her experience as Marketing Manager with the BCS has given her particular insight into what a society and its membership needs from its publishing program. Suzanna holds a degree in Publishing, and a post-graduate qualification in public relations.
Biggest passion: traveling the world, juggling and salsa dancing, but not at the same time.
